I had a great time working with the artist Mara Duke, and with DP Sissy Reyes to come up with a concept of how we would treat the visuals for this dark pop track.

We mined deep into the meaning of the lyrics and the very personal nature of the themes we alighted upon around female identity, conflict, and around the cultural repression of female rage.

The costume design of the red woman hearkens to mythic figures and pagan ritual and reveals the grim power of the masks we wear as social armour.

I really wanted the visuals to feel as layered and as glitchy as the music, so I used various silhouetted profile shots of the artist as a matte to reveal the textured motion of the red sheer fabric, and cut quite viciously into the action, utilising speed ramping and slow motion to enhance the otherworldliness of the red woman and the disjointed nature of the struggle of the protagonist.

I'm quite pleased with how this turned out, given how small the budget was.
